Alternatively if anyone can think of a good place to raise this please let me know. I haven't had much involvement with the Laravel community and appreciate that I might well be unaware of the proper channels or ettiquette for resolving problems like this.

Have been informed by a Laravel developer that due to the internal architecture of Laravel's test framework, multiple requests per test are not supported; the framework only boots once per test, so a second request during a test veers into undefined behavior.
