i would say design a migration plan first, which components you need to migrate first? how long do you think the process would take for each component? what unnecessary code are you planning to remove? is it easier to just rewrite the entire thing than trying to figure out which code does what?

That's a lot of questions ;"D So team decided not to optimise and write a new site from a scratch (old one was a little bit too messy, a lot of long code that was important to structure of website and they cant change it to work like they want so they concluded that it will be faster and better to write a new one.
