I actually complained at first as well, however the reasoning behind the change is, IMHO, a good one.

You can actually see the results of a pull request I made https://github.com/laravel/laravel/pull/3033 that outlines the thought process behind it.

Also if you still are interested, I forgot which one, but one of the "What's new in laravel 5" videos on laracasts, also has a nice explanation by Jeffrey Way.

It's just one of the risks you take with a closed-source IDE - if something changes with the language/framework you're using, you're at the mercy of the vendor for updating.

You can now specify the various blade tag types (at least in php storm 8.0.3).

Just open the preferences screen and type blade, see Languages & Frameworks > PHP > Blade. Set Raw, Content, and Escaped tags. SWEET!
