Thank you. The preview I saw for October CMS looks like a very solid product.

The reason I'm weighing a custom build of my own using Laravel to any existing CMS, is that I want to dream up my own database design and let the client manage content type that way. In past experience, if I tried doing this in something like Wordpress, you end up modifying the CMS so much that it's even more of a process than building to your needs. I can imagine doing a set of custom fields in Wordpress, but then the entire site's design needs to become a theme, the content placed into pages and posts... it's too much.

I'm really just looking for someone "on the inside" of Laravel use to tell me if this is the type of task you can do in your sleep once you learn Laravel, or if it's not a great fit.

I whipped up a super basic one for a company intranet. Took about 4 days but I had a decent working knowlege of Laravel already. I only mention it because I found Laravel an excellent framework for making a CMS, I would say it is worth the learning curve.
