@if (count($achievements)>0) 

try

@if ($achievements->count())
0

Unfortunately, that did not work. I do appreciate you trying though and I'm always interested in learning new techniques. Thanks!

Solution

So I found the solution. Oddly, I found it on the way home, driving. This was originally copy and pasted from, I believe, this site for a previous version of Laravel. The issue is it doesn't needed to be sliced.
