Solution
Change routes.php:
Route::get('/register', [
'uses' => 'Auth\AuthController@newUser',
'as' => 'newUser'
]);
Ok I got it, thanks. When the php artisan make:controller is used it places the controller in a default folder that can be reached directly from the routes.php. So when controllers are placed in a directory, that directory must be defined in the routes.php
