Are you files on a remote share like NFS or Samba?

HI thanks for the reply, again soon , no mins after posting i thought to check as the server is on a local network and my mac is connected to it, so i tried all the composer / artisan stuff on th eactual server and all seemed to run OK, as as your reply is suggesting its probably the fact that its not directly accessing it form the actual machine that causes issues.
